FAQ & SUPPORT

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS.

Luarca & Foley was created around the belief that a watch can be more than an instrument for telling time. Our collections are designed around stories, professions, places, achievements, and moments worth remembering. Rather than building our identity around mass production, we focus on distinctive designs and limited production runs intended to give each timepiece its own character.

Many of our collections are produced in limited or controlled quantities. The number produced varies by collection and may range from highly limited numbered editions to larger specialty releases. When a collection is individually numbered, the production quantity will be clearly identified with that watch.

Generally, once a numbered limited edition has been completed, that numbered edition is considered finished. We may revisit a theme or create a future interpretation, but we believe a limited edition should mean something.

Our watches are conceived and designed by Luarca & Foley, with each collection developed around its own design language, purpose, and story. Manufacturing and component sourcing are performed through specialized watchmaking and manufacturing partners selected according to the requirements of each model.

No. Movement selection is part of the design process. Depending upon the collection and its intended purpose, a Luarca & Foley timepiece may use an automatic, mechanical, chronograph, quartz, or other specialized movement. The movement used in each watch is identified in that model’s specifications.

Presentation varies by collection, but select Luarca & Foley editions may include a presentation box, Certificate of Authenticity, story card, warranty information, commemorative challenge coin, hang tag, and other collection-specific materials. The contents accompanying each model are identified on its product page.

Our Custom Watch Program allows qualifying organizations, departments, units, associations, businesses, and other groups to collaborate with Luarca & Foley on a watch created specifically for their organization. Rather than simply placing a logo on an existing watch, our goal is to develop a cohesive timepiece and presentation that reflects the history, identity, and character of the organization.

Custom programs may be developed for law-enforcement agencies, military organizations and units, fire and emergency-service organizations, corporations, associations, clubs, charitable organizations, special events, and other qualifying groups. We also consider select private commissions and special projects.

It begins with a conversation. We learn about the organization, its history, insignia, colors, and what the watch is intended to commemorate. From there, we determine an appropriate watch platform and develop the available custom elements. Depending upon the project and manufacturing requirements, customization may include dial details, hands, caseback engraving, crown treatment, straps or bracelets, presentation packaging, challenge coins, story materials, and other collection-specific elements. Once the design and production specifications are approved, the collection moves into manufacturing.

Potentially, yes. The organization must have the authority to use the applicable name, badge, seal, insignia, trademark, or other protected artwork and must provide any authorization required for the project.

Yes. These communities are particularly well suited to our custom program because watches can commemorate service, history, unit identity, anniversaries, retirements, and other significant milestones. However, the Custom Watch Program is not limited to public-safety or military organizations. Corporate, private, and specialty commissions may also be considered.

Absolutely. Anniversaries, historic milestones, reunions, retirements, commemorations, and other significant events can become the foundation for an entire collection. In many cases, the story behind the watch becomes as important as the watch itself.

Minimum quantities depend upon the watch platform, level of customization, packaging, and manufacturing requirements. Because every project is different, minimums and pricing are established after the initial design consultation.

Production schedules vary according to complexity, quantity, component availability, approvals, and the amount of customization involved. We establish an estimated production schedule before manufacturing begins and keep the organization informed as the project progresses.

Certain custom programs may be structured so that a portion of the proceeds benefits the participating organization, association, foundation, or other approved cause. The structure is determined individually for each project.

Select private commissions may be available. The possibilities depend upon the particular watch platform and the degree of customization requested. Contact Luarca & Foley to discuss the project.

For selected collections, we create a companion challenge coin specifically for that watch. It isn’t intended to be a generic promotional coin. Its imagery and message are developed around the same story or idea that inspired the timepiece. That makes the coin part of the collection rather than simply something added to the box.

Because sometimes the reason a watch exists matters as much as its specifications. Our story cards preserve the inspiration behind a collection so that an owner years from now can understand what the watch represented and why it was created.

Collections supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity will identify the watch and its applicable edition or production information. For numbered limited editions, the certificate may also document the individual edition number.

New Luarca & Foley watches are covered by our two-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Specific coverage, exclusions, and instructions for obtaining warranty service are provided with the watch and in our warranty terms. Normal wear, cosmetic damage, accidental damage, misuse, and unauthorized repairs or modifications are generally outside the limited warranty.

Water-resistance ratings vary by model. Always refer to the specifications for the particular watch before exposing it to water. Water resistance should not be interpreted as meaning that every watch is appropriate for swimming or diving.

Avoid unnecessary impacts, extreme temperatures, strong magnetic fields, and exposure to chemicals. Leather straps should generally be kept away from prolonged moisture. Water-resistant watches should have their seals and water resistance periodically checked, particularly before substantial water exposure.

Yes. Contact Luarca & Foley before sending a watch for warranty evaluation or service so we can provide the appropriate instructions for your particular model.

When individually numbered watches are offered, requests for a particular available number may sometimes be accommodated. Availability cannot be guaranteed unless specifically confirmed at the time of purchase.

Yes. New designs and specialty projects are part of the Luarca & Foley philosophy. Some will become public collections, while others may be produced exclusively for a particular organization, event, or private commission.

Contact Luarca & Foley through our Custom Watch Program inquiry page. Tell us about your organization, the approximate number of watches being considered, the occasion or purpose of the collection, and any ideas you already have. You don’t need to arrive with a finished design. That’s our job.
